DescriptionPerspectives on AI, Special Project AGI 2024, Basel
I used Adobe’s Illustrator AI tool for vector graphics generation. Prompting it to create illustrations on „AI“, it produced mediocre stock like graphics of robots, human faces inside data grids, portraits with antennas, or old school futuristic cities (I felt relieved for such poor outcomes). I stuck them all on top of each other and merged them together. Not knowing if we look into a street scenery, or a one-eyed skull, the messy result frames the feeling quite well towards AI and our profession as graphic designers – an eery sense of „something“ watching back at us while taking over what we love and call our job. However I am optimistic (possibly naive), that it means an opportunity for us to define our profession, our personal and individual approaches towards design even more. We have to find out what we can be, how we will work and what really is important about human design and art. There’ll be losses. But my hope is it will push us Humans to become more „us“.
