DescriptionIn the Capitalocene, the economic growth fetish created a culture of constant consumption, accumulation and exploitation. Regrowth explores the Degrowth countertrend, a movement advocating for reduced consumption and unlearning as pathways to progress. Tue trend research analyses the insights and slow shifts, while exploring the diverse emotions that Degrowth evokes.
The video installation navigates the spectrum between the mixed feelings of hope and dystopia surrounding Degrowth, translating them into an action for optimism. As a project curated by a designer and activist, Regrowth represents an empathic manifesto that wants to re-shape a theoretical topic into a wish for a blooming world: 'Degrowth is Regrowth'. To truly grasp its abundance, it's essential to immerse into the mindset through feeling and experience: the shirt represents an optimistic view, a metaphor for 'putting yourself into someone else's shoes', while the video plays a mindset shift from dystopic to wishful.
