DescriptionThe exploration of an urban space is all about emotions. In my thesis I investigate how such an exploration can be transformed into sound – and how the soundscape gene-rated corresponds to the local ambience.
My experiments were carried out at Idaplatz in Zürich West. In order to obtain sound material I first visually documented the location in 10 categories (area, precipitation, surfaces, sound, movement, smells, wind, temperature, constructions, and dreams) and then imported the visual content into an audio software, which generates sinus tones from images.
To complete each experiment I choose an image based upon both visual and acoustic appeal. A large print of each image, and the accompanying soundscapes will be exhibited at a gallery right at Idaplatz.
