BeschreibungPerspectives on AI, Special Project AGI 2024, BaselAscent And Obsolescence Of Humanity reflects on the many signs showing how AI is inexorably outpacing the capacities of the human brain to then gain the ability to think, within design and beyond. It is the outcome of our evolution, along that of technology. As AI grows toward omnipotence it means that, relative to its powers, it could seemingly level humanity toward the animal realm. But yet it may as well elevate aspects of humanity toward the realm of gods. This could also signify the obsolescence of Man as Modern ruler over the living world to then finally lead humanity toward more evolved beings. AI driven design production is set to dominate all disciplines. Designers will find a role in such a future by retaining agency over imagination while creatively channeling the powers of generative design. The dazzling impact of AI creations may colonize billions of retinas but humans will always retain authenticity above that of machinic creation. To best express “perspectives on AI” from a human point of view is to be familiar with AI processes in research, writing or image generation, while staying away from them on such a project, since using such means would lead to “perspectives by AI” more than by humans. My design is a compromise. It is based on minimal generative imagery where slightly manipulated anatomy engravings were processed through iterative cycles on Firefly, then followed by simple manipulations of the outputs.
