«Spieglein, Spieglein»

«Mirror, mirror on the wall»

As far back as Ovid’s “Metamorphoses”, Narcissus became obsessed with his own reflection. The mirror is not only a popular motif in literature, theater, and advertising but is also often used in interior design and the design of objects. Ornamental hand mirrors and elegant dressing table mirrors may be used for shaving or for the morning make-up ritual, whereas free-standing mirrors and wall mirrors can change the look and feel of an entire room as well as extend it visually. The designer couple Trix and Robert Haussmann like to play above all with the illusions created by mirrors. The mirrored interior walls, armchairs, cabinets, and tables produced by their architecture practice Allgemeine Entwurfsanstalt are a constant challenge to the human eye.
