«Homage to Radovan Jenko»

Radovan Jenko is among the most active and best-known promoters of graphic design and posters in Slovenia. With his cultural posters for the theater, concerts, and exhibitions, as well as his sociopolitical manifestos in support of environmental protection and human rights, he has written himself firmly into the poster history of his country. Jenko’s poster art breaks with the narrow corset of Western graphic design. His posters are radically subjective and therefore also to a certain extent subversive. Despite his continual creative innovation and his confident play with illustration, painting, photography, collage, fonts, and typography – sometimes all at the same time – Jenko’s posters all reveal the same inimitable attitude. He has no qualms about mixing art and kitsch, no fear of crossing the line between art and graphic design, as long as the result is authentic.
