«Steady now – chair legs»
Usually the first thing we look at in a chair is the seat, and only after that the legs. But legs are just as important as the seat, and just as thoroughly considered in the design of a chair. Legs give the chair character and may enable it to perform additional functions. For example, the shape of the legs is crucial if the chairs are to stack. It also affects the use of the chair if the legs are finished off with casters or runners. The legs can also be extended into armrests or backrests. Most chairs feature four legs but can also stand well on three. The one leg of a dairy stool has to be supplemented by the two legs of the milker. Every office chair nowadays has five legs with casters.
