Women as authors dominate this presentation. Working in various design disciplines, they captivate the beholder with a seemingly instinctive command of their material and a fresh inventiveness in form and color that extends across the decades. The designers are too numerous to name them all!

Gertrud Natzler, Margrit Linck-Daepp, and Estelle Gassmann are just a few of those who have pushed the boundaries of ceramics. Mary Ann Toots Zynsky takes filigree glass art to new heights, while Jaroslavá Brychtová and Mary Shaffer have made a name for themselves in sculptural glasswork. Mary Morris, Alice Bailly, and Maria Geroe-Tobler shine in the field of embroidery, while in the world of haute couture textiles Cécile Feilchenfeldt is known for her use of innovative and unexpected materials and Andrée Brossin de Méré has made a name for herself with photo-based prints. Moik Schiele was a successful tapestry artist, while Françoise Grossen, Magdalena Abakanowicz, and Sheila Hicks are regarded as seminal figures in Fiber Art. Finally, the auratic creations of Verena Sieber-Fuchs and Pierrette Bloch are imbued with a fervent passion for the respective material.
