Mit Unterstützung des Freundeskreises des Museum für Gestaltung Zürich konnte eine 2024 in die Plakatsammlung eingegangene Donation von rund 100 Plakaten zum Ersten Weltkrieg umfassend restauriert und dokumentiert werden. Das politische Plakat entstand erst im Ersten Weltkrieg, wobei sich seine Gestaltungsmittel und seine Strategien eng an das Konsumplakat der Jahrhundertwende anlehnten. Feindbildpropaganda, Kriegsanleihen, Spendenappelle etc. sind Themen der Plakate aus Europa und den USA, teils aus der Hand bedeutender Plakatgestalter:innen und Künstler:innen.# With the support of the Friends of the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich, a donation of around 100 posters relating to the First World War, which entered the poster collection in 2024, has been comprehensively restored and documented. Political posters first appeared during the First World War, although their design elements and strategies were closely based on the consumer posters of the turn of the century. Enemy propaganda, war bonds, appeals for donations, etc. are the themes of the posters from Europe and the USA, some of which were created by renowned poster designers and artists.
