Das Institut Cultural Studies in Art, Media and Design bietet seit Oktober 2004 für PhD-Forschende ein dreijähriges Promotionsstudium in Zusammenarbeit mir der University of Plymouth an. Die ForscherInnen-Gruppe in Zürich (Z-Node) ist Teil des Planetary Collegium der University Plymouth. Dessen Direktor, Prof. Roy Ascott, leitet eine Gruppe mit 17 weiteren Forschenden. Die Vize-Direktorin und erste Supervisorin in Zürich ist Prof. Dr. Jill Scott.
