DescriptionFrom wandering harmonies to atonality the author takes several works belonging to the post-romantic and modern period to dissect their meaning and understand how, in a quest for perpetual freedom and emancipation, certain precursor composers explored these barriers of harmonic and formal wandering that opened the doors to new musical philosophies for the 20th century, and above all why these anomalies are the origin of serial or atonal currents which will re-emerge decades later, once again calling into question the barrier between tonal and non-tonal music.
