DescriptionThe author’s goal is to analyse how Desyatnikov reused material from Vivaldi's Four Seasons in his arrangement and to understand the extent and significance of the impact of Vivaldi's original on Desyatnikov's final composition. First, she writes about Vivaldi's life, his musical education and factors that may have influenced his musical compositions. Then she does the same for Desyatnikov and explains the circumstances in which his work came into being. She focuses also on the different types of musical borrowing, since composers have borrowed musical ideas from each other throughout musical history. More details she provides then on the conventions of borrowing in the baroque era and the 20th century. She analyses furthermore quotations made by Desyatnikov in his rearrangement of Piazzolla, comparing them to Vivaldi's original and noting their differences and similarities.
