DescriptionHow to facilitate the reading of recipes by translating the cooking process into a systematic pictorial language? A pictogram is a simple and highly effective way toconvey a message. As a graphic, it is often stripped down to the bare minimum required for legibility and comprehension, yet still it symbolizes a real object and content. The realism of pictograms has made them immensely popular. I want to investigate how pictograms can help people understand cooking recipes. My master project has resulted in a collection of easy recipes visualized through a
systematic pictogram language, aimed at people who are interested in cooking, but sometimes too busy to read a lengthy text. The recipes employ simplified instructions instead of detailing every step of the process. It offers a creative approach that has the potential to allow people to experience a more open, creative way of cooking, and leaves more room for interpretation.
