DescriptionIm digitalen Raum wimmelt es von Icons, Emojis, Piktogrammen und Logos. Die Kommunikation ist zunehmend durch Bildzeichen geprägt. So auch bei der Grafikerin Juli Gudehus, die die biblische Schöpfungsgeschichte in eine heutige Adaption der Hieroglyphenschrift übersetzt hat. Doch wie die Bibel Interpretationsspielraum zulässt, so sind auch Icons und Symbole nicht universell verständlich, variieren abhängig von Kultur und individueller Lebenswelt. Gudehus’ eigene amüsante Version der Genesis präsentiert indessen einen listigen wie poetischen Zugriff auf die Zeichen unserer Zeit.

Digital space is teeming with icons, emojis, symbols, and logos. Communication is increasingly shaped by pictograms. This also applies to graphic artist Juli Gudehus, who has translated the biblical story of creation into a contemporary adaptation of hieroglyphic writing. But just as the Bible allows scope for interpretation, so icons and symbols are not universally understandable and vary depending on culture and the individual lifeworld. Gudehus’ amusing version of Genesis, however, presents an approach to the signs of our time that is both cunning and poetic.

Icones, emojis, pictogrammes et logos pullulent dans l’espace numérique. Les symboles visuels s’invitent de plus en plus dans la communication. En témoigne Juli Gudehus, graphiste berlinoise qui a traduit le Livre de la Genèse dans une adaptation contemporaine d’écriture hiéroglyphique. Mais tout comme la Bible laisse place à l’interprétation, les icones et symboles ne sont pas universellement intelligibles, ils varient selon les cultures et les univers personnels. La version ludique de la Genèse selon Juli Gudehus propose cependant un accès aussi astucieux que poétique aux signes de notre temps.
