Description«Created just before the turn of the last century when mascots were in wide employ as company logos, this fat man managed to survive and become a beloved symbol even though his job is rather boring and utilitarian: a salesman for car tires. Apparently Édouard Michelin told his brother André upon coming across a stack of tires: “Look, with arms and legs, it would make a man.” It evolved from an originally rather sinister depiction to a fatter version to the overtly cute cartoon character of today. This one is my favorite.»
