Description“Eero Saarinen, who studied painting before taking a degree in architecture at Yale, met Charles Eames at Cranbrook in 1938. Constantly experimenting with the potential of new materials and processes of workmanship, in 1940 they won the competition held by MoMA for projects of ‘organic design in home furnishings.’ Matter—an exceptional photographer and graphic designer of the molded shells by Saarinen in a series of brochures for Knoll.
