DescriptionThe author presents in his thesis interviews with four different composers and an interview with the Portuguese tuba player Sérgio Carolino. The intention is to understand in detail if the relationship between composer and interpreter in the Portuguese music for tuba is important for the production of new pieces and which kind of relation is developed during the composing and preparation time of the piece.

In the first part of his thesis, the author highlights on the concept of interpretation and relations between composers and interprets in the past. Then he presents the development of the characteristics of the repertoire from 1920. In the last chapter, he forms a bridge between the ideas presented in the previous chapters and the results of the interviews with the composers.
