Description« ‹Das Holz mit seinem spezifischen Charakter und der Ausrichtung seiner Fasern suggeriert mir die Form›, schrieb Aalto und fuhr fort: ‹Alle Formen der Kunst werden aus dem Material geboren und müssen sich mit diesem auseinandersetzen.› Dieser Sessel für Artek ist expliziter Ausdruck davon. Die Sitzfläche kann, wie die beiden Ablagen des Beistelltischs, auch schwarz lackiert sein. Ist das Thema einmal da, können Variationen geschrieben werden.»

“ ‘It is the wood, with its specific character and the arrangement of its fibers, that suggests the form to me‘, Aalto writes, then stating that ‘all forms of art come from material and have to come to grips with material.‘ This armchair for Artek bears explicit witness to this tenet. The seat, like the two panels of the table, can be finished in black lacquer. Having solved the theme, variations can be made.“
