Immigrants have a tendency to keep living as they did in their home country and they are, therefore, isolated from local people, which affects not only them individually but also the whole society. There have been different ideas that attempt to break this isolation. However, a suitable solution has yet to be found.
As a theatre pedagogue with a migration background, I have been working on this topic since I moved to Zurich in September 2015. My work is mostly based on the question, 'How can theatre be used to contribute to the integration process?' I have taken part in multicultural theatre projects as an assistant director and stay in contact with the adult immigrants, who get involved in these projects. This direct contact has enabled me to investigate more on this topic and write this thesis.
In this thesis, I make an inquiry from the side of applied drama in order to examine problems and questions surrounding integration.
