Description“Matter’s stunning representation of Switzerland fascinated motorists from many foreign countries—it was actually a very refined photomontage. The blue sky over the whiteness of the Doldenhorn and the porphyry paving of the Tremola. In 1936 Matter moved to New York. He went straight to Harper’s Bazaar to meet Aleksej Brodovič, behind whom he saw “Für schöne Autofahrten die Schweiz” hanging on the wall.“
