DescriptionCorporation archives are widely thought to be inaccessible and dusty. Their value is notoriously underestimated. Using the example of the archives of the long established Bally Shoefactories, I want to explore their potential. An appropriate
presentation of archived artefacts serves the purpose of transferring past knowledge into the future, thus making history tangible and cultivating
the visual grammar of a brand. Atelier Bally allows mashing up old structures
in archives and facilitates serendipitous discoveries. The web app randomly reanimates different kinds of stored objects and reveals their stories. It offers a new form of conveying insights and provides the employees with a handy research tool for inspiration and creation. The Atelier framework demonstrates new opportunities to access and use archives in a way that is suitable for a
broad range of institutions.
