DescriptionHow can CITY CURATION help to protect and promote diversity on High Streets?High Streets around the world are undergoing dramatic transformations. Whilst globalisation promises diversity, the domination of our High Streets by multinational brands delivers the same repetitive formats worldwide. What are the implications of these changes? What actions can be taken to counteract them? IDENTI.CITY examines current developments in inner-city High Streets and assesses socio-economic factors based on interviews with retailers, building owners, city planners and social geographers. The aim of this paper is to provide strategic recommendations to local authorities, developers, street associations and community groups. It illustrates how with CITY CURATION, the forces that impact upon prime urban locations can be managed and High Streets revitalised.
