Exhibitions of [Kreis-Schablone]

Round composition, collection of prints (total 27 pages colour and B/W). Recreated for exhibition in Darmstadt and also for WW to experiment with colour (previous versions were only ever in B/W).The round compositions were inspired by German concrete poetry artist Ferdinand Kriwet, WW saw an exhibition of his work in Baden-Baden circa 1962. However WW experiments were purely aesthetic. Original compositions (started in 1962) made after accidentally dropping a hand composed text in 6 point type on the floor during WW apprenticeship. Entire weekend was spent putting back into the box. WW had the idea to squash them into a round form held together with a strip of cardboard. The round form idea was purely to attempt something different - at odds with the style of setting type in this time (straight lines). There was a front side (letters) and a back side - two sides to print. 3 x round windows, each with a different radius to create gradations of tone in the printing process.
