Collection Info
A new music genre featuring synthetic sounds and more than 120 bpm made inroads into Swiss clubs in the early 1990s. Styles including trance, drum ’n’ bass, garage, and dubstep came to be subsumed under the term “techno.” Posters and party flyers announced events and internationally publicized techno parades, informing potential participants of the place, time, and DJ lineup. Just like the music, the posters and flyers were produced on the computer. They typically display brightly colored vector graphics with high-tech-looking fonts. The mix of stylistic elements found in the music is also reflected in the graphics, which combine details from mass communication such as logos, arrows, and packaging, sometimes in an ironic fashion.
