Description«I remember discovering the Wohnbedarf shop in Basel several years ago and thinking with such a logo it must be something special, but I had no idea then how special it is. Founded in 1931 in Zurich, among others by Siegfried Gideon, with showrooms designed by Marcel Breuer and logo by Max Bill, they produced their own furniture with many of the best designers of the time and clearly had the “eye” from the very beginning. This poster is a straightforward vertically symmetric arrangement of the logo, the announcement and the chair, but the combination results in such an elegant expression of style and modernity.»

"Ich kann mich noch erinnern, wie ich das Wohnbedarf-Geschäft in Basel entdeckt habe und dachte, dass es mit einem solchen Logo wohl etwas Besonderes sein müsse; ich hatte aber damals noch keine Ahnung, wie besonders es wirklich ist. Gegründet 1931 unter anderem von Siegfried Gideon, mit Schauräumen von Marcel Breuer und einem Logo von Max Bill, produzierten sie ihre eigenen Möbel zusammen mit den besten Gestaltern dieser Zeit und hatten von Anfang an ein besonderes Auge für Design. Dieses Plakat zeigt eine geradlinig vertikal ausgerichtete symmetrische Anordnung von Logo, Text und Stuhl, deren Kombination aber einen höchst eleganten Ausdruck von Stil und Modernität ergibt."
