DescriptionCommunities are at the center of Sanja Saftic's work, she engages them at micro- and macro-level to foster collaboration and co-creation at the science/art interface. With a background in microbiology, a career in the lifescience industry and a passion for cartoons, she has often meandered between research and art. At the ZHdK Sanja took a deep-dive into the methods, attitudes and the life of creatives, with the vision to become a matchmaker and interpreter who speaks the language of both disciplines and builds bridges between them. In her work she has used the tools and experiences from Creationship and Creativity Coaching to develop her own coaching style. As proof-of concept for her vision to act as a mediater between disciplines she developed the idea for an exhibition at the sci/art interface. With the show title "There is a Me in MicrobioMe" she combines her passion for visual storytelling, microbiology and the arts to introduce visitors to an otherwise invisible world. By giving bacteria a voice and the power to challenge our anthropocentric understanding of the world, she invites the audience to participate and question their own views. Humor is a crucial ingredient in Sanja's work and the proposed show, it helps break down barriers and maintains a lighthearted atmosphere even when the questions get tough.
