By the end of the 19th century, luxury goods and the latest technical advances were already being promoted in early picture posters – soap, coffee, chocolate or electric light. And illustrations of woman served early on as a seductive eye-catcher. With the Basel «object poster» the product poster reached a new high point, lending utilitarian items a magical aura. Today, the focus is on new advertising strategies and highlighting innovative products.
